The Tikka XP 2 CORE features the Petzl Lithium Ion Polymer CORE battery.  This pack utilizes a standard USB connection and your computer with Petzl OS software to actually program the brightness of the light and balance it with the battery savings you need.  You can choose optimum brightness for a quick trail run at night or optimum battery savings for long treks, or anything in between.  The perfect light for your task and your preference. 

Like the standard Tikka XP 2, the TIKKA XP 2 CORE offers two light sources  The main white high-output LED delivers up to 50 lumens and usable beam lengths from 15 to 46 meters with battery life from 70 to 13 hours.  The second light source is a red LED that comes in handy for preserving night vision.  Both also offer a signaling mode as well as a Wide Angle lens allowing the user to choose between a long distance focused beam and flood beam proximity lighting.

The CORE battery pack is rechargeable for up to 300 uses (thats replacing 900 normal batteries).  The pack can easily be replaced however by normal AAA Alkalines or LR03 lithium batteries should the need ever arise.  This configuration provides even greater power with up to 60 lumens and battery use like that of the standard Tikka XP 2.

The Petzl Tikka XP 2 CORE comes complete with the CORE Battery Pack, USB charging cable and US wall adapter.  The CORE unit can actually be charged from any standard USB to micro USB charging source such as your computer, phone charger, car charger, solar charger, etc.  It's weather resistant for reliability in all conditions and even includes a signaling whistle.  3 year warranty.
