The mÜV (pronounced "move") Portable UV-C Water Treatment is an effective Pathogen killing water treatment solution. Unlike most filters, the mÜV is even effective against small viruses and is also effective against hard shell pathogens such as Cryptosporidium which is resistant to certain chemical treatments such as Iodine. The mÜV purifies by means of UV-C light, and it works very fast! 1 liter of water can be treated in as little as 75 seconds compared to several hours for Iodine. The mÜV is also very economical when you consider it's rated useful life to be 5000-8000 1 liter treatments! Here's how it works. You simply insert the mÜV in your water container and turn it on. The mÜV is completely safe for use in essentially every container. It will even float if you're purifying a large container of water. The unit turns itself off after 75 seconds, but additional cycles can be used for larger water volumes. It's rechargable battery will provide approx. 16 purification cycles of 75 seconds. You don't have to worry about being left thirsty when your battery dies though. The mÜV contains it's own charging circuit and leads and it can be recharged in the field from any battery up to 6 volts. The charging leads attach to the battery with powerful magnets and store right inside the mÜV when not in use. A typical "D" cell battery will charge the unit about 10-15 times while a AA will charge the unit 1-2 times. LEDs help you keep track of charging progress. There's even a regular white LED that allows you to use the mÜV as a lantern or local area light. The mÜV works best with clear water though turbid water can be treated with longer times and stirring of the water. In this situation though, the best treatment choice is generally a combination of methods using the mUV in addition to your pump filter.
